Τα δελφίνια ανήκουν στη θάλασσα και όχι στη φυλακή του Aττικού Πάρκου

Όσοι υπογράφουμε παρακάτω ζητάμε από την πολιτεία, το Αττικό Πάρκο τους χορηγούς που το στηρίζουν, αλλά και από όσους με την σύμφωνη γνώμη τους ή με την αδιαφορία τους στηρίζουν την διατήρηση των ζώων σε αιχμαλωσία, να δείξουν τον απαιτούμενο σεβασμό που αρμόζει στα ζώα που βρίσκονται έγκλειστα στις εγκαταστάσεις του Αττικού Πάρκου. Η διατήρηση των ζώων σε συνθήκες αιχμαλωσίας, παρόλο που τους παρέχεται τροφή, νερό, και στοιχειώδης ιατρική περίθαλψη, δεν παύει να είναι μια φυλακή που εξασφαλίζει ως ένα βαθμό την επιβίωσή τους, απαγορεύει όμως την ευζωία τους. O αφύσικος τρόπος ζωής που προκύπτει από την έλλειψη ερεθισμάτων, τον περιορισμένο ζωτικό χώρο, την αδυναμία εκδήλωσης φυσιολογικών συμπεριφορών, και την διαρκή έκθεση στον ανθρώπινο παρατηρητή, δεν μας διδάσκει τίποτα για τα ίδια τα ζώα. Στην πραγματικότητα μας μεταφέρει μια αλλοιωμένη μόνο εικόνα των άγριων συγγενών τους ενώ πλέον το διαδίκτυο, τα ντοκιμαντέρ, αλλά και η δική μας διακριτική και υπομονετική παρουσία στην φύση μπορούν να μας μάθουν πολύ περισσότερα για τις πραγματικές τους συνήθειές, τις ανάγκες τους και τις θαυμαστές τους ικανότητες. Αντίθετα στις αρχές της οικολογίας που αντιμετωπίζει κάθε ζωντανό οργανισμό ως μέρος ενός πολύπλοκου συνόλου με το δικό του μοναδικό ρόλο στην διατήρηση της ισορροπίας των οικοσυστημάτων, τα ζώα που βρίσκονται στο Αττικό Πάρκο και σε κάθε κήπο, αναγκάζονται να ζουν απομονωμένα σε ένα στείρο, ξένο για αυτά περιβάλλον. Ξεχνάμε με αυτόν τον τρόπο ότι για να σταματήσουν να απειλούνται και μην εξαφανιστούν αυτά τα είδη, δεν χρειάζεται μόνο να κρατήσουμε μερικά ζώα ως δείγματα, αλλά να προστατέψουμε και να διατηρήσουμε το φυσικό τους περιβάλλον, τόσο για εκείνα όσο και για εμάς τους ίδιους. Η έκθεση ζώων και τα θεάματα που τα χρησιμοποιούν, σύμφωνα με την Διακήρυξη των Δικαιωμάτων των Ζώων, αποτελούν καταστρατήγηση της αξιοπρέπειας και του σεβασμού προς τη ζωή τους. Η διατήρηση των ζώων σε αιχμαλωσία για την δική μας διασκέδαση, σε καμία περίπτωση δεν δικαιολογεί την υποβάθμιση της ποιότητας ζωής των άλλων ειδών. Ούτε ο στόχος της ευαισθητοποίησης δεν μπορεί να επιτευχθεί, όταν μικροί και μεγάλοι διδάσκονται ότι η απλή διασκέδαση του επισκέπτη, μπαίνει πάνω από το σεβασμό για τη ζωή και το διαφορετικό, και αξίζει περισσότερο από την ελευθερία του άλλου. Αντίθετα, αυτό που μαθαίνουμε είναι να μουδιάζουμε τα αισθήματα συμπόνιας για τα πλάσματα που υποφέρουν μπροστά μας και απλώς να τα προσπερνούμε συνεχίζοντας τη βόλτα μας. Είναι αυτή η αντίληψη για τον κόσμο και την σχέση μεταξύ όλων των ζωντανών οργανισμών που θέλουμε να περάσουμε στα παιδιά μας, όταν τα φέρνουμε να δουν τα δελφίνια τα Σαββατοκύριακα; Αν μας διδάσκει κάτι η έκθεση των ζώων σε πάρκα και δεξαμενές αυτό είναι η βίαιη φύση του ανθρώπου. Του ανθρώπου που θέλει να κυριαρχεί στη φύση και χρησιμοποιεί τα ζώα ως σημάδια της δύναμης του, όπως τα χρησιμοποιούσε άλλοτε για να δείξει το μεγαλείο των αυτοκρατοριών του. Του ανθρώπου που γυρνώντας επιλεκτικά και επιδεικτικά την πλάτη στην επιστήμη, αρνείται την εξελικτική συνέχεια των ζωντανών οργανισμών και χρησιμοποιεί τα κάγκελα για να διαχωρίσει στη συνείδησή του τη θέση του από τα μη ανθρώπινα ζώα. Για τους παραπάνω λόγους απαιτούμε τώρα το Αττικό Πάρκο και οι χορηγοί του να σταματήσουν να προωθούν το βασανισμό ζώων, ξεκινώντας από τα δελφίνια και τα θαλάσσια λιοντάρια, να σταματήσουν άμεσα τις εξευτελιστικές παρουσιάσεις των ζώων, να σταματήσουν τη χρήση τους για αναπαραγωγή, και να τα επιστρέψουν εκεί που τα πήραν δείχνοντας με τη στάση τους ότι πέρα από το κέρδος, τους ενδιαφέρει η ευζωία των ζώων, και ταυτόχρονα ότι σέβονται τον κοινό νου με το να μην κρύβουν το βασανισμό πίσω από τα χαμογελαστά πρόσωπα κάποιων ζώων.
Dolphins belong to the sea and not to the prison of Attica Park
We want the State, the Attica Park and its sponsors, as well as those who are indifferent to the imprisonment of animals or agree with it, to treat the animals kept in the Attica Park with the respect they deserve.
Keeping animals in captivity, even if they are given food, water and basic medical care, does secure the survival of the animals to some extent, but it still is, however, a prison that prevents their well-being. The unnatural way of life, the lack of stimuli, the absence of natural behavior and the constant exposure to human observers, doesn’t teach us anything about the animals. In fact, it gives us a distorted image of their wild relatives while the internet, the documentaries and our discreet and patient presence in the nature can teach us much more about their real habits, their needs and their wonderful abilities.
Contrary to the principles of ecology that treats every living organism as part of a complex set, with its own, unique role in the conservation and balance of ecosystems, the animals of Attica Park and any garden, have to live isolated in an environment where they do not belong. We forget, in this way, that in order to protect animals from becoming extinct, it is not enough to keep some animals. We have to protect and preserve their natural habitat, not only for them but also for us.
The exposure of animals and the shows in which they use then are, according to the Declaration of Animal Rights, violation of their dignity and lack of respect to their life. Keeping animals in captivity for our entertainment, does in any case justify the quality of life of other species. Children and adults are taught that the visitor’s entertainment is more important than life and the freedom of other creatures. This does not contribute to the sensitization of the visitors. Instead, we learn to feel no compassion for the creatures suffering in front of us, to ignore them and continue our stroll. Is this attitude to the world and the relations between all living creatures the one we want our children to learn, when we bring them to see the dolphins on weekends.
If the exposure of animals in parks and pools can teach us something, this is the violent human nature. Humans want to dominate nature and use animals as symbols of human power, like they used them once to show the magnitude of their empires. Humans ignore science, deny the evolutionary continuity of living organisms and use bars to distinguish themselves from non-human animals.
For these reasons we demand that the Attica Park and its sponsors stop promoting animal abuse, beginning with dolphins and sea lions, immediately stop the humiliating animal shows, stop their use for reproduction and return them where they belong, showing with their attitude that, apart from profit, they also care for the well-being of animals and at the same time that they respect the common sense and stop hiding abuse behind the smiling faces of some animals.
Delfine gehören im Meer, nicht im „Attiko-Park-Gefängnis“
Wir, die hierunter unterschreibenden, verlangen dass der Staat, der Attiko-Park und dessen Sponsoren und diejenigen, die durch ihre Gleichgültigkeit oder Zustimmung das Gefängnis der Delfine unterstützen, die Tiere mit Respekt zu behandeln.
Auch wenn die Tiere im Gefängnis Essen, Wasser und medizinische Pflege bekommen, sichert das nicht ihr Wohlbefinden. Die unnatürliche Lebensweise, ohne Reize, der beschränkte Lebensraum, die Unfähigkeit, sich natürlich zu verhalten und die menschlichen Beobachter, lässt uns nichts über die Tiere lernen. In der Wirklichkeit, wir sehen nur ein gestörtes Bild ihrer wilden Verwandten. Wir können durch das Internet, durch Dokumentarfilme und geduldige Beobachtung der Natur viel mehr über die Gewohnheiten, die Bedürfnisse und die wunderbaren Fähigkeiten der Tiere lernen.
Die Ökologie betrachtet jedes lebendiges Wesen als Teil eines komplexen Ganzen, mit eigener, einzigartiger Rolle in der Bewahrung des Gleichgewichts der Ökosysteme. Im Gegenteil, sind die Delfine im Attiko-Park gezwungen, in einer fremden Umwelt zu leben. Wir vergessen, dass wir den natürlichen Wohnort der Tiere bewahren sollen und nicht nur manche Tiere retten sollen.
Die Shows mit Tieren respektieren das Leben und den Anstand der Tiere nicht, laut der Erklärung der Tierrechte. Was wir für Vergnügen halten führt zum Degradieren der Lebensqualität der Tiere. Die Besucher lernen dadurch, dass die Unterhaltung des Zuschauers wichtiger ist als der Respekt für die Freiheit anderer Lebewesen. Wir lernen, gleichgültig vorbei zu gehen, wenn ein Lebewesen vor unseren Augen leidet. Wollen wir diese Lebenshaltung unseren Kindern vermitteln, wenn wir mit ihnen am Wochenende die Delfine besuchen?
Durch diesen Besuch lernen wir nur, dass Menschen Gewalt verwenden. Der Mensch will in der Natur herrschen und nutzt Tiere als Symbol seiner Macht, genau wie in der Vergangenheit Königsreiche Machtsymbol waren. Der Mensch vergisst, dass auch Tiere Lebewesen sind und nutzt Gefängnisse, um sich von den nicht menschlichen Tieren zu unterscheiden.
Aus diesen Gründen verlangen wir, dass die erniedrigenden Tiershows im Attiko – Park nicht mehr stattfinden und dass Delfine und Seelöwen nicht mehr leiden. Tiere sollen zurückgehen, wo sie gehören. So beweisen die Sponsoren, dass sie sich fürs Wohlbefinden der Tiere und nicht nur für den Profit interessieren. Die Folter soll nicht hinter lächelnden Gesichtern versteckt werden.
